Enabling Others to Act is the behaviour of a confident leader.

By understanding the strengths of the people in their team, and by truly believing in each person's potential, they are confident in enabling others to take control and initiative.

Leaders that do this well demonstrate two key leadership behaviours - Fostering Collaboration and Strengthening Others

Those leaders that foster collaboration build spirited teams. They actively involve others, understanding that mutual respect is what leads to extraordinary efforts.

Striving to create an atmosphere of trust, they strengthen others, making each person feel capable and powerful.

Nelson Mandela, the iconic South African leader, exemplified this. By fostering collaboration and strengthening others, he was able to successfully lead South Africa through the dismantling of apartheid while encouraging racial reconciliation.

What have you done in this past year to foster collaboration and strengthen others?

And, what difference have you noticed when you do this consistently?

"Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved."
